Sehwag hits 110 for India against New Zealand, declared MOM

Opener Virender Sehwag hit a stylish century on Wednesday as India was bowled out for 223 by New Zealand in the decisive tri-series match.
Sehwag stood out as other India batsmen struggled, making 110 off 93 balls to claim his 13th one-day international century. His knock included 16 boundaries and a six.

Despite the early losses, Sehwag showed his customary flamboyance as he unleashed a flurry of strokes and scored the runs at a brisk pace.

Sehwag was particularly severe on Mills as he clobbered him for two consecutive boundaries and then hammered Southee for a couple of boundaries.

During the course of the innings, Sehwag became the seventh batsmen in ODIs to hit 1000 boundaries. The record of hitting the most number of boundaries in ODIs is held by Sachin Tendulkar who has 1927 boundaries.

Sehwag took a single off spinner Williamson to complete his 13th ODI century which came off just 87 balls.

Spinner Nathan McCullum brought an end to the 107-run fifth wicket partnership by evicting the dangerous Sehwag soon after he completed his century, much to the relief of his teammates.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who won the toss and chose to bat, was India's next best scorer with 38.
Seamer Tim Southee had figures of 4-48 for New Zealand, with offspinner Nathan McCullum also impressing with 3-35.
The winner of the match will play Sri Lanka in the tournament's final on Saturday.
India Won the match by 105 runs and Sehwag Declared MOM.

SLC ne Viru Se Maafi Mangi......

An "upset" Sri Lanka Cricket on Tuesday apologised to Indian opener Virender Sehwag for the deliberate no-ball bowled by off-spinner Suraj Randiv which left him stranded on 99 in their tri-series match here and promised action on the matter after getting a probe report.

SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga called up the Indian team managerRanjib Biswal and apologised for Monday's incident.

Sehwag was just one short of his 13th ODI hundred when Randiv, who had not bowled a no ball in the Test or ODI series this season, bowled one which was hit by the opener for a six. However, it did not count because the no ball amounted to India's winning run leaving Sehwag on an unbeaten 99.

Randiv's antics were criticised by Sehwag in the post match press conference and to put an end to the furore, Ranatunga gave Biswal a call to apologise.

Koi baat ni Dosto, Apna VIRU to agle matches me hisaab barabar kar lega..
JAI HO VIRU KI !!!

Viru Unbeaten at 99 (stopped by Randiv ), makes India's way to Victory,

Sehwag cracked 11 fours and two sixes as India overhauled Sri Lanka's modest total of 170 in the 35th over to earn themselves a bonus point. India suffered an embarrassing 200-run defeat by New Zealand in their opening match last week.
Sehwag hit Suraj Randiv for a six with the final delivery of the match but was denied a century after the umpire signalled a no-ball.
India needed 5 runs when Viru was on 99*, Randiv bowled to him but gone for a 4 through byes.
Virender Sehwag needs one run to his century and team india needs a run to win the match. Randiv started his bowling, sehwag smashes it for six but unfortunately its a big no ball. His back foot was close to over-steeping, forget about the front foot. Anyway Sehwag smashed it for six over long-off, but they don’t count because the game finishes at no-ball. He raises his arms, but then Umpire called the ball a no-ball & he realises the century is not completed.
Being unbeaten on 99*, he became First Indian Batsman & 10 in the world.
Doesn’t matter to him. He says: “It often happens. When a batsman is on 99 and the scores are level, bowlers try to bowl no-balls and wides. It happens in cricket. Fair enough.”
What a man!!!
Sehwag didnt get his century but team India got bonus point and also won the game.

Sehwag grabs 2 wickets as Sri Lanka under pressure against India

India kept the pressure on Sri Lanka by taking a first-innings lead and grabbing two wickets to restrict the home side to a 34-run lead in its second innings after three days of the third Test on Thursday.
Part-time spinner Virender Sehwag snared both wickets after scoring 109 of India's total of 436.
"I am very lucky to score a 100 and take two wickets," Sehwag said. "So hopefully we'll do the job tomorrow also and try to win this Test match."
He said India hope to keep Sri Lanka's second innings under 200.
Sri Lanka quickly overcame the 11-run first-innings deficit, but by stumps openers Tharanga Paranavitana and Tillakaratne Dilshan were out and the team was again relying on another big innings from captain Kumar Sangakkara to secure a series victory.
Sangakkara was 12 not out, becoming the fastest to reach 8,000 runs in his 91st Test, and nightwatchman Suraj Randiv was yet to score on a P. Sara Oval pitch helping the spinners with sharp turn and bounce.
Paranavitana failed early again when he made 16 before edging Sehwag to wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, then Murali Vijay snapped up a bat-pad catch from Dilshan for 13 off Sehwag to leave Sri Lanka 39-2.

Virender Sehwag hits 21st ton

Blazing Virender Sehwag smashed career’s 21st Test on the third day of final Test against Sri Lanka at P Sara Oval stadium in Colombo on Thursday.

Sehwag completed his ton in just 90 deliveries with 18 fours. The Indian Opener missed a ton in the second Test as he was dismissed fro 99 runs.

Sehwag was also toppled by Sri Lanka skipper Kumara Sangakkara from No.1 Test player in ICC rankings. Sangakkara smashed double hundred in the same match.

Resuming from overnight score of 180/2, India received early jolt as master blaster was dismissed by Lasith Malinga in the very first over of the day. Tendulkar just added one run in his overnight score of 40.

Sehwag was also sentpack by spinner Suraj Randiv after his century. Sehwag scored 109 runs.
